We respect the privacy of our clients and we hold in strict confidence all personal and health information you provide to Wild Hearts Wellness. No information will be released to a third party without your prior written authorization. At any time, you have the right to withhold or withdraw consent to, or place conditions on, the disclose of your information. Exceptions to confidentiality include the legal and/or ethical obligations to:
* Inform an appropriate family member, health care professional, or police if necessary of a client's intention to end his or her life.
* Inform a potential victim of a client's intention to harm them.
* Release a client's file if there is a court order to do so.
* Inform appropriate personnel/family if there is suspicion of a child at risk of harm or in need of protection due to neglect, physical, sexual, or emotional abuse.
* Report elder abuse of a client that resides in a long-term care facility or under guardianship of a friend or family member.
Our overall goal is to provide an environment in which you feel comfortable to share personal concerns and stories in confidence. Wild Hearts Wellness does not discriminate against race, color, national origin, sex, religion, financial status, sexual orientation, or age.
Personal records are obtained for 3 years from the date of the last client interaction, or until the client's 18th birthday. All documents are securely stored and are available via your written request within the timeframe listed.
The payment for each equine session is donation only, and all donations will be used towards the care of the equines, equine rescue, feed/hay costs, and/or business operation costs.
Wild Hearts Wellness does not tolerate the destruction of property and/or abuse of any kind towards our animals and/or our staff members. Clients who violate this condition will be permanently dismissed from our program and legal action may be pursued.
All participants must be at least 5 years of age or older, and all equine experience levels are welcome. Sessions are customized to the client's level of comfort.
We reserve the right to cancel a session in the event of sickness, a medical emergency of a staff member or an equine, a loved one's death, or for unfavorable weather or road conditions.
The outcome of your time with the equines is difficult to predict or guarantee, since it is dependent on a number of factors, such as the fit between you and staff members, your readiness and willingness to work towards personal goals, and the behavior of the equine. We will always strive to create the best environment possible for all involved, but outcomes are never guaranteed.
You reserve the right to terminate a session at any time or remove yourself from the program at any time.
During your session(s), our top priority is the safety of you, our staff, and our equines. We ask that you follow all instructions given to you by staff members to reduce the risk of injury. We also ask that any guests that are in attendance, please observe from a designated seating area. If you do not comply with safety instructions, the session with be terminated immediately, and Wild Hearts Wellness will not be liable for any incidents that occur from negligence on the client or guests behalf. Horses and donkeys are used in our sessions, but Wild Hearts Wellness is also home to cats, dogs, birds, and other livestock and the safety instructions given during sessions applies to all animals on the property.
Depending on your level of comfort, sessions may include the following with the equine and staff member:
* Grooming
* Riding (at the discretion of staff)
* Basic horsemanship skills
* Ground work interactions
* Quiet time spent with the equine
* Leading and walking of the equine
* Obstacle courses with the equine in a secured area
We will provide a helmet for an added measure of safety.
The inherent risks of these types of activities include, but are not limited to the following:
* The propensity of the animals to behave in ways that may result in permanent disability, injury, harm, or death to persons, on or around them.
* The unpredictability of the animals' reactions to such things as sounds, sudden movement, and unfamiliar objects people, or other animals.
* The exposure to certain hazards as surface or subsurface conditions.
* The exposure to illnesses or infections that might be contacted from domestic or wild animals, insects, plants, or other life forms.
* Damage to personal property.
* The chance of collision with animals or objects.
* Equines also have emotional and physical care needs that must be met, to avoid the possibility of stress as a result of participating in activities.
Wild Hearts Wellness will not assume the financial or legal responsibility for any reasons listed on this document that results from the client's negligence.
